Hi, I am Yifan Xu from Nanjing, China. Currently a third-year Economics and Mathematics major at The University of Chicago, I have attuned myself to sleep deprivation and the almost endless Chicago winter.
If you ever had the chance to come visit the UChicago campus, it is quite certain that you would be impressed by its beauty. Even during the most dreadfully freezing days, I am still willing to stride across the quad, the central area where our core teaching buildings reside. The fact that I have lectures to attend can barely be a sufficient incentive anymore—it is the stunning view of the campus that serves as the magic lure. The pursuit of aesthetic beauty not only empowers me through the piercing wind, but encourages me to be more observant, perceptive, and adventurous.
Sherlock Holmes describes the job of detectives as unraveling murders, the scarlet thread, from ‘the colorless skein of life’; but I deem life itself as varicolored and as something charming enough for me to get caught in. This portfolio is the proof of me getting entangled, happily of course.
